INTERVIEW: Funto Ibuoye Shares About Life, Purpose, Marriage | @FuntoIbuoye

Funto Ibuoye is a graduate of Accounting from Covenant University. She is a young, beautiful and a dynamic author of the book “Beautified”. She is passionate about empowering women and helping them live up to their fullest potential. She is also the founder of the “Beautified network” targeted towards helping women achieve purpose.

Here’s a sneak peek of the interview with Mrs Funto Ibuoye at Praiseworld Radio;

Making an impact while as a single young woman, how were you able to cross over into the marriage sector for example; changing of names?

Well, it wasn’t hard to drop my name. I didn’t have to think too much about it. Although I really liked my maiden name; “Funto Oni” and  had already written a book tagged with the name but as soon as I got married I was not reluctant to change it to “Funto Ibioye”. As the Bible says old things are passed away and all things are new.

How did the word “Beautified” come about?

In the year 2011 while I was serving, I had an opportunity to learn the art of make-up . I eventually became a professional make-up artist. After a while I took it further by sending daily beauty tips through the Blackberry messenger.

A couple of years down the line while trying to figure out my purpose I came across the word glorified and beautified together in a particular scripture. So when I decided to start-up the network the name was very easy to retrieve.

About Purpose:

I found out my purpose by staying in God and following God. You might have a purpose but it all depends on what God wants you to do. it’s beyond your ambitions and goals and has a lot to do with God’s will for your life.

About Leadership

For me, leadership is about service. According to Mathew 20:26, to be the greatest you must be a servant. So I try to serve my mentees in every possible way and I try as much as possible to ask them questions too.

About Marriage and Finding purpose

There is a great percentage of women who want to finish school, get married and have children but, there is so much more.

A lot of people make the wrong decisions in marriage due to wrong perceptions and desperation. There is so much more to life, God has so much in store for us and he has put so much gifts inside of us.

Your purpose is not missing, you have to find God in order to find your purpose.

Your years of singleness is an opportunity to spend time and get to know God. As a single lady I chased after God. I was in various units in my church. Everyday of the week I was in church and I was just lost after God.

Be completely sold out to God and at the right time God will lead the right man to you. Before I dated my husband I had been in four other relationships.

The end of these past experiences drew me closer to God. I took myself out and learned to love myself.

My thoughts were no longer focused on marriage but rather getting closer to God. Your life should not be fixated on getting married.

About Hearing from God in Marriage

Most of the time, the dreams we claim we have as a confirmation of the spouse we want to marry is usually due to the surplus emotions we have for that person and not the Holy spirit showing us.

About LACE(Ladies After Christ’s Example)

This was targeted towards teenage girls. Every quarter we would bring them together because we believe that the things that happen to women actually begin from a younger age.

It has been said that it is easier to save a girl then repair a grown woman. For now Lace is no longer active but you know, anything can happen.

About Counseling older people

The grace of God upon my life has helped me. Most people believe I am older than I am. God’s wisdom is not restricted to age. Following after God and my relationship with Him has helped me greatly.

About Five28 Interior Design and Decoration

I had always had a flair for it but I wasn’t giving it much attention. After resigning and going through a series of trials I decided to take up courses on interior design. I was really interested in it because I like to beautify places and faces.

As God would have it I had the boldness to put it out there on social media and people responded quite well. Today five28 is doing very well.

What have you learnt from your mentors?

I actually don’t have a particular person or a set of people who mentor me but I look up to certain women. I follow their training, read their books and I have been able to learn a great deal from them.

How available do you get, considering your responsibilities as a mother, sister and wife?

Having people to help makes life a lot more easier. To create a balance you need people to help you out at different points in time. You cannot do it all by yourself, it takes a village.

The Proverbs 31 woman also had a couple of people she gave assignments to make sure her home was well organized.

Tip – Everyone wants someone to be their everything. We need to get to the point were we realize that only God can be our everything and not your husband or wife. it will only lead to dissatisfaction. Nobody can fill up that space in your life.
