Next on The Experience Lagos #ArtisteFocus Series, is Pastor Donnie McClurkin.
We couldn’t wait to get a hold of Donnie, as we watched him feature, first on Nathaniel Bassey’s ‘Imela’ with Micah Stampley and then on Frank Edward’s ‘Oghene Doh’.
Taking about multi-lingual, Donnie connected with our roots as he chose to use our very own words in worship. A lot of that was evident at the Experience Lagos this year and it goes to say, we must be proud of our roots, and quit longing to borrow the western standards of music or worship to the detriment of our culture. Our culture is beautiful!
Songs like ‘Stand’, ‘We Fall Down’, ‘ The Days of Elijah’, ‘Holy’, ‘The Caribbean Medley’ are but a few of the many musical masterpieces that have captured the hearts of worshippers all over the world.
Pastor Donnie McClurkin feels his purpose in life is to worship God and to minister to people. McClurkin has a burning desire to connect with people globally and this is why he includes a language medley: Japanese, Russian, Spanish, Dutch and any relevant language in most live performances.
His list of awards and accolades includes three Grammy Awards, ten Stellar Awards, two BET Awards, two Soul Train Awards, one Dove Awards and an NAACP Image Award.
Donnie is the host of his own radio programme ‘The Donnie McClurkin Show’ and is also the Senior Pastor of Perfecting Faith Church in New York, USA.
God bless you always Donnie and thank you for always coming home to bless us!
