According to author Gary Thomas, the role of marriage is based on partnership, spiritual intimacy and the ability to pursue God together.
Thomas stated : “The most common misconception Christians have about marriage is finding a ‘soul mate’ — someone who will complete us. The problem with looking to another human to complete us is that, spiritually speaking, it’s idolatry.
We are to find our fulfillment and purpose in God . . . and if we expect our spouse to be ‘God’ to us, he or she will fail every day. No person can live up to such expectations.
Everyone has bad days, yells at his or her spouse, or is downright selfish. Despite these imperfections, God created the husband and wife to steer each other in His direction.”
These are the days whereby the devil is pulling and dragging. Seeking ways to frustrate marriages and veer them away from achieving God’s purpose for their lives.
There is a constant battle of confusion, selfishness, misunderstandings, pride and unforgiveness in marriages.

Today 29th May 2017 happens to be Day 2 of #8DaysOfMaritalBliss and it is tagged “SANCTIFICATION AND CONSECRATION” Pastor Funke had this to say:
“Anchor Text: Exodus 19:10 ‘The LORD also said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments;’ Ask for forgives of sins in case you have erred in any way. All have sinned and come short of His glory.
Today, we will plead the blood of Jesus on our homes, sanctifying everyone inhabiting in it.
There is power in the blood of Jesus. Demons tremble when they hear us call on the blood of Jesus.
Commit yourself, your children and husbands living with you into the hands of the Lord. Cleanse them with the blood of Jesus.
Singles, do the same. Commit your partners and spouses to be also in the blood of Jesus. Ask that the blood will speak for them everywhere they turn to. Evil will not take them away from you in Jesus name.
As you are going to your place of work or business; and as the children are going to school, speak in tongues over your home, plead the blood of Jesus.
Declare, my home is safe by the blood of Jesus, My family is covered with the blood of Jesus. No evil will come upon us because we are covered by the blood of Jesus.
I pray for you today, the Lord will cover you with His blood. No evil stain will come near your dwelling. The blood of Jesus sanctifies you and is your shield.
Because of the blood of Jesus, I disinherit your marriage and family life from every evil inheritance in Jesus name.
Your lives will not be suddenly cut short in Jesus name. Amen.
Your music shall not suddenly stop.

The daily prayer segment began yesterday and was tagged ‘THANKSGIVING’. Pastor Funke Adejumo encouraged all the married couples out there to give thanks to God no matter the situation they are facing in their homes.

Anchor Text: “Thanksgiving Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, For His loving kindness is everlasting.” Psalm 136:1
On the issues of our homes, give God thanks.
Whatever the situation of your home is, give thanks to God.
Give God thanks for the establishment of your home. He Himself knows of this day and has laid the foundation of your home.
For all the blessings you have received in your homes, give Him thanks.
For your wedding anniversaries, give God thanks.
For the joy and peace in your homes, give Him thanks.
For your children, give Him thanks
If you are single, give God thanks for your new home. Thank Him for your lovely and beautiful spouses on the way and thank Him for the blessed home that you will receive.
Sing praises to His name. Appreciate God for all of His goodness.
Let this day be filled with joy and thanksgiving in your heart.
You are blessed in Jesus name.
Don’t miss tomorrow because whatever has been difficult for you shall be made easy. You are coming out of every pit of shame. The hand of God is locating you.
