Aston Villa Wins Cup of Traditions in Germany
Aston Villa won the pre-season friendly tournament, the Cup of Traditions, after victories over MSV Duisburg and Hertha Berlin on Sunday.
Steve Bruce’s men defeated Duisburg 3-0 in the opening game of the event – two from Scott Hogan and one from Andre Green doing the damage.
In their first of two 45-minute games, Villa saw off German second tier side Duisburg 3-0, thanks to Andre Green’s goal and a double from former Brentford striker Scott Hogan.
Hertha, having beaten Malaga in their first game, met Villa in the final, but Steve Bruce’s side saw off the Bundesliga outfit comfortably.
Captain John Terry lifted the silverware after the game for Villa, who are favourites to win the Championship this season.
They start their campaign on Saturday, August 5 at home to Hull City at 5.30pm.
