In the month of January 2013, I discovered I had gradually become quite interested in reading some tweets on twitter, because of the contents they had. On this particular day, while scrolling through my TL, I noticed there was this tweet about an online gospel station retweeted by one of my tweeps, and this time they had Joe Praize interviewed in their studio, on the “The Praise O’clock Show”.
I quickly recalled that I had seen a similar tweet a couple of days back, but the interview was with another Nigerian gospel artiste. “This might be a Nigerian station”. I clicked on the link and within a short while I was laughing at my laptop, or so my colleagues thought. The interview was so informative, yet fun-filled.
That day marked the beginning of my “addiction” to Praiseworld Radio. Funny enough, weeks back I was talking to my brother and asking him if there was actually a gospel radio station in Nigeria, as I was tired of the normal stuff I heard.
Everyday was a day to look forward to. I was known in my office to always listen to Praiseworld Radio, yet do my job so well. The addiction grew so ‘bad’ that I even introduced some of my colleagues who also became fans of the station, even introduced my British friends on Twitter who reside in the UK.
I learnt more about gospel entertainment in Nigeria and the world at large. I laughed till my sides ached everytime I was tuned in. I was musically inclined in the first place, so it was like this station was meant for me. I knew almost every new song by gospel artistes,
I met and became good friends with most of the Nigerian artistes (beautiful personalities I tell u), I met with some funny, God-fearing Christians who also listened, even from outside the country…and they became even closer to me, even closer than my family (Oops!).
What tripped me the most about this station was an incident that occurred in April. I was involved in a motor accident and sustained minor injuries. The on-air personalities not only twitted and sent direct messages, they called me, they mentioned to everyone who listened and I got so many prayer-tweets. I was awed at such care. They even tweeted to know how I was doing days later.
Wow! Ok, another day, I wasn’t emotionally “great”. These people prayed for me on air and dedicated a song of encouragement to me. I cried that day, because I couldn’t understand such care.
I thank God everyday, (as in everyday!) for this station, a true body of Christ. To the Praiseworld crew; as u carry out the great commission given to us by Christ to take the gospel all over the earth, know this: You only go two directions- Upward and Forward! U’ll transcend to greater levels of glory!
Boy, I love Praiseworld Radio station! God bless and increase u daily!
