If you’re a music lover words like, “Yes”, “Un hun”, “Really”, “No wonder”, would probably go through your mind as you read this post.
You’ll definitely find this post narrative, informative and enlightening.
So I’m thinking out loud…
This song has been my ringtone for the past 3 to 4 months; I think I should change it. So as usual, I go through the ritual of selecting an appropriate ringtone.
Here I go again:
1. Does the beat of the song or voice start as soon as I press the “PLAY” button? If “yes” then it would ring out as soon as a call enters.
2. Is this song loud enough? If I put my ringtone volume between volumes 5 and 8 and I can’t hear my phone ring from a considerable distance then sorry the song made it to my playlist but not to my ringtone category.
3. Duration: Is the song long enough? A very short ringtone would mean I would have frequent missed calls, because there’s a high possibility that before I can reach my phone, the song might have stopped playing. Leaving a familiar display “1 missed call”. For ladies the bags in vogue do not make it easier to reach our phones on time. For those who find it naturally disturbing to carry their phones around the house, the songs duration is a vital point.
4. Is the song decent? If this song rings out in public, would it be pleasing to the ears and does it portray decency? Some times what we call decent at home and among friends may not be termed decent at work. This may not be because the song is not morally good or because you have a bad taste but because the genre (type) of the song does not complement the atmosphere in formal place of work. In a financial institution for example, a cool, moderate tempo kind of song is preferred.
5. Does it portray who I am or better still does it define who I am? “Don’t judge a book by its cover”. Yet a lot of people do. In a gathering all it takes is for your phone to ring and one can depict the kind of person you might be. So it won’t be far-fetched to say, “Your ringtone gives an impression of the kind of person you are”.
Apparently, I’ve been thinking out loud all along.
Your ringtone is a tune you’ll listen to frequently. As a Christian, it edifies to listen to godly songs but it has been said that not all godly songs are healthy, in the same manner, not all secular songs are ungodly.
Now I’ve selected my new ringtone. (I’m really feeling the song and sometimes I’m tempted to mime and sing along before I *pink* up my phone lol!) Remember to select an edifying ringtone with these five (5) qualities.
It’s your turn to write. How do you select your ringtone? Feel free to type your thoughts here. We would love to read them.
