Bishop TD Jakes who is known widely for reaching out to those abandoned, lonely and depressed took to Instagram today 25th May 2017 to share some thoughts on being broken and allowing God to work on us in order that he might use us. He stated:
“God wants to break you until nothing is left but His light shining out of you. Can you be broken and still burn? Sometimes God has to break certain things in you in order to be able to use you for His glory (Romans 7:18).“
“What things is the Lord breaking in you so that He can have your undivided attention, therefore causing you to chase after Him? In your state of brokenness, remember, He is the Potter and you are the clay (Isaiah 64:8).
He can only restore and transform you when you fully surrender yourself to His will and His way (Luke 9:23). It is when you acknowledge that you need Him that He can make you whole and His light can shine through you (Proverbs 3:6).”
The ‘woman thou art loosed’ Preacher assured his readers that trusting in God is the only way to get miracles:
“He is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). His ways are not our ways, but we must trust the process (Isaiah 55:8). Don’t miss the miracle God has for you because you are walking in disobedience – submit to the process and you will emerge victorious (Job 23:10)”
About Bishop TD Jakes
Thomas Dexter “T.D.” Jakes, Sr. is a Pastor, author and filmmaker. He is the bishop of The Potter’s House, a Nondenominational American megachurch.
He was born in South Charleston, West Virginia and grew up in Vandalia , attending local Baptist churches. He spent his teenage years caring for his invalid father and working in local industries. Feeling a call to the ministry, he enrolled in West Virginia State University and began preaching part-time in local churches, but he soon dropped out of the university. He took a job at the local Union Carbide and continued preaching part-time.
In 1982, he became the pastor of the Greater Emanuel Temple of Faith, a small, Montgomery, West Virginia independent Pentecostal church with about ten members. In 1990 he moved to Charleston, as his congregation grew.
He then began to focus on the spiritual needs of the women in his church who had been abandoned and abused in their lives. He began a Sunday School class for them, “Woman, Thou Art Loosed,” in which he encouraged the women to use their past pain as a foundation for new growth.
He later started a similar class for men, which he called “Manpower.” In 1993, Jakes self-published his first book, drawing on his experiences working with the women of his congregation. Woman, Thou Art Loosed would become Jakes’ signature work and a national religious bestseller.
