I’m Left Handed, No Apologies! | @Emrysmilla202

lefthanded

Just for laughs, I’m left handed…

And of a truth, I’m not sorry about it.

But that’s what my environment wants me to be and it’s devastating. I’ll let you into my world for a bit, so you can see what I mean.

I walk into a restaurant, probably on a date or something, take a sit, request for the menu, which I receive with my left hand, and then I go “Oh, I’m sorry, I’m left handed”… Wondering why? It’s because of the terrible “you-lack-respect” angry look coming from the attendant which I have to deal with for starters.

And then, I get served and just as I attempt to pick up my fork and knife, I have to change my mind for the sake of my dignity and that of my date, (if any)… I go for the fork alone instead, that way, no one raises an eyebrow when they see me eating with my left hand… In fact, it’s usually adorable and you hear “oh you’re a lefty? Wow, that’s nice”

Truth be told, if I was at a restaurant and I saw someone trying to form etiquette with his/her fork on the right hand and knife on the left, (just like I would use it) I would also have a good laugh, because what comes to mind is “Must you use it?”

Still, I must say, I’m left handed, so yes, I would use my fork and knife the other way, and yes, I would pay you for services with my left hand by reflex, not because I’m trying to be rude, as it is with our mentality in this part of the world.

I find myself apologizing unnecessarily, to avoid insults, and most times, I’m left to wonder, “Jeez! In this time and age?”

Now back to the matter…

I’m Christian, and I’m not sorry. People see no reason why I should tag Jesus to every good deed of mine, or why I should see Jesus as the source of all the love I have to give. After all, I could still do good deeds without knowing Christ and I could still love fully without knowing Christ.

What is morals outside of the source? I could never love you (antiparasitically) unless I know what it is to be loved by the Father.

So yes, I do things differently, so what? That’s what is expected of me right? I’m supposed to stand out of the static even when everyone is going the same way and practically ignoring tips for life and living from God’s manual.

Faith

I do believe that it’s not what goes into the mouth that defiles a man, but what comes out of the mouth and it’s not what society has tagged “the norm”, the right thing to do that actually defines who I am.

Enough! of always being sorry for not being able to fit into your ambitions, politically, socially, economically and otherwise.

I am not sorry for not liking the things you love, or not conforming to the current “fashion” trend that expects me to “break the internet”.

I’m not sorry you don’t find me in the cribs and clubs where you find others.

I’m not sorry for seeing something wrong in alcohol, cigarettes, tattoos and drugs.

I’m not sorry for always engaging in things that make you raise an eyebrow and wonder what planet I come from.

The thing is I’m just left handed, and I can’t keep apologizing for that.

And for choosing Christ and this life?
