He revealed that he grew up from a place of hopelessness and expressed how music was able to open doors for more opportunities that changed his entire life;
“I came from a place of not having a lot of hope as a child and music gave me the opportunity to make a difference in my life. So my wife and I have put together a summer camp for 50 talented musical kids to be a part of the camp which is called Camp Lotus”
The 14-time Grammy award winner went on to add that the new program stems from their non-profit organization and would be solely for students interested in Music and entertainment;
“Tammy and I are so excited to announce our nonprofit, The Franklin Imagine Group. We’re launching with Camp Lotus, a camp for 9-12 grade students interested in music performance and the entertainment business”
The Summer camp is targeted towards residents of Dallas as Kirk hopes to impact his city first and foremost before expanding out to impact the world.;
“Someday we may go beyond but we’re starting in our own backyard, so you have to be a resident of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area; preferably Arlington to apply. Tuition is free, but transportation is not provided.”
