Biography
Kris Grant, born Nwokocha Mac-Grant Ifeanyi, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer. With his unique blend of vocal melodies and word play majorly in English and other Nigerian native languages like Pidgin and Igbo language, he is considered one of the outstanding fast rising talents in the gospel music space as he creatively fuses Afrobeats and Gospel music together to make “Afro-Gospel”. He debuted with his song EVERYTHING in 2018 and since then has gone on to release two EPs titled ABLAZE and SHEPHERD in the years 2021 and 2023, respectively amongst other numerous singles over the years . He has collaborated with other notable gospel acts which have received commendable spotlights within and beyond Africa.
His most recent joint project with Maikon West, Shepherd EP received widespread acceptance and has charted across several countries. It peaked at #151, #55, #44, #37 and #9 on Christian and Gospel Album chart on Apple Music in Zambia, Netherlands, Uganda, Nigeria and Malawi respectively. It also peaked at #93 and #87 in the overall album chart on Apple Music in Uganda and Malawi respectively. He has performed and shared the stage with notable Gospel music names like Ada Ehi Moses, Judikay, Esther Benyogo, Bukola Bekes and Enkay Ogboruche.
Due to his versatility and unique music delivery, he is also known for working closely with Tolu Obanro, co-writing and performing GBAS GBOS; the lead soundtrack to Funke Akindele’s BATTLE ON BUKKA STREET and also writing and performing a soundtrack used on Jade Osiberu’s BROTHERHOOD produced in 2022. The former became the highest grossing Nollywood film of 2022, and presently the second highest grossing film in Nigeria till date; while the latter was the second highest grossing film of 2022, and presently the 7th overall highest in Nigeria.
In addition, he has worked with Niyi Akimolayan’s Anthill Studios, writing and performing “Ego” and “Spinning Money” which were soundtracks for the comedy movie “The Prophetess” ; a box office sensation that casually over-throned Godzilla vs Kong, and Mortal Kombat in cinemas in April, 2021, further claiming the position of the third highest grossing Nigerian movie of 2021, and the 20th overall highest grossing till date. He also co-wrote and performed “Gallant” which featured in the movie, “The man for the job”, which was released in the April of 2021, and presently the 10th most seen movie on Prime Video in Nigeria. With his most recent single ALL IN ALL, PT.2 which features gospel music heavyweight Okey Sokay, he is definitely a special talent to look out for in 2024.
