Bus conductors in Lagos have been instructed to start wearing uniform with name tags from today Thursday August 3rd 2017.
This new development comes in order to promote the Smart City Initiatives, SCI, of the state government.
The National President of the Bus Conductors Association of Nigeria, BCAN, Comrade Israel Adeshola broke the news in an interview.
Comrade Isreal announced that the Lagos State government has approved the use of uniforms and badges with name tag and identification numbers,
He added that the new development was to easily identify registered conductors.
He explained further that the badges on uniforms is to tackle criminal tendencies by some bus conductors.
“The re-branding of bus conductors in the state which is in partnership with the Lagos State Government is a project that has been in the master plan of the state government.
It a ploy to stem criminal activities and also protect the lives and properties of Lagosians.
The BCAN has been partnering with the state government through the ministry of transportation to train members of the association who are now registered by the government.
According to the association’s president, the conductor’s job is vital in the transportation sector.
He went further to state that the organization has embarked on sensitization and training of members since inception.
“The objective is to make the conductor’s job attractive, respected and dignified as obtainable globally.”
