I was filled with so much skepticism whilst working on this tune, I wasn’t sure if the vocals could deliver the lyrics the way it was laid in my heart but I kept working until this was birthed. “I called Heaven” is a solo piece which was inspired by Cobhams Asuquo’s “One Hit”.
As a young boy growing up, life to me was just “go to school, study hard and become a doctor” till date I can’t explain where this love and undying passion for Music came from but all I know is i never want it to stop because nothing else gives me more joy and fulfillment.
“I called Heaven” is just like a call to heaven (God) telling God my heart desires and the manner I wanna make my music in. At the end of the day His will shall prevail though. (John 3:30)
Oki Richard Gbenga who goes by the stage name “Cypha” as inspired by high-school friends which is actually an acronym meaning “a Young Happy Christian with Amazing Potentials”. Hails from Akoko L.G.A Ondo state, Nigeria. Was born, raised and currently resides in Makurdi, Benue State.
Cypha is a Christian by faith, a Singer, Recording & Performing Artiste and a Songwriter who is currently an independent artiste with about 10 beautiful songs all to his credits in Afropop, Dancehall, Soul, Gospel, Afro Urban Highline and Beat Genres.
Music for him started officially in 2012 right after high school.
Aside Music Cypha is currently a student of Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi and also into I.C.T by trade.
