Nigerian reggae icon Righteousman cries out for the redemption of his Nation with his new single “Save Nigeria“.
He sheds light on the situation in the write up below;
There’s this story of a woman, a very old woman. In her youth days, everybody envied her beauty, every man wanted her and every woman wanted to be like her. She’s blessed with many children and they are all over the place. Some went to ply their trade across the four corners of the nation while some even went abroad to sojourn.
Now this old woman is left on her own in the village like she has no one. She’s mocked to scorn in the market place. They say things like, “Look at that mama, one of her son owns a big oil company o…but she can’t have kerosene for her cooking stove.” Others say, “Her children are very intelligent o, they schooled abroad get first class degrees but they can’t manufacture ordinary pencils.” The rumours never cease, you hear things like, “When she was younger, they were groundnut pyramids in her backyard and she sold cocoa to the Europeans, now she can’t even sell water at 5 Naira.”
Hmmm, who will save this old woman? Are her children this wicked? Can’t they see their mama is dying?
You and I know this woman. She’s our beloved Mother. The one we pledged to never forsake. Let’s come today from the North, East, West, South and Diaspora to save her.
I sing to the conscience and soul of every Nigeria, at home and in the diaspora, from every tongue and tribe, to unite and make this nation great again. Like children of the same old mother, we need to come together, protect her, clothe her, nourish her and save her.
