NYSC Voted To Be Removed From Constitution

 

The compulsory National Youth Service Scheme from the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has been voted to be removed by the Senate.

This decision is said to have taken place last Wednesday July 26 2017.

This development has resulted to various reactions from many young Nigerians.

This decision will serve as a first step with the Nigerian lawmakers to amend the NYSC decree.

Many Nigerian youths have complained over the non-productive nature of the scheme and have pleaded with the government to put an end to it.

Eighty eight Senators are reported to have voted for the removal of the NYSC decree from the Constitution.

On the other hand, three Senators voted against the amendment vote. The lawmakers also voted on 32 other constitutional amendments.
