Nigerian artist Sandra Karo, releases a song titled ‘Enta Di Mata’ a short prayer for the country done acoustically featuring Ben on the guitar. The song speaks volume and brings it home. It is a prayer that is in the heart of many today.
The song title is born from the Nigerian slang for a way of saying ‘we need you’, ‘come do something’ , ‘answer our prayers’ ‘.
She speaks about her experience writing the song. “Writing the song, we were just actually doing a freestyle at the studio and we thought we could write about our country. Thinking of what is happening, the economic meltdown, bad roads, bandits kidnappings and all, all that was left to do was to pray to God to help us, make things better hence the line ‘make our life better'”
Writing a song in pidgin for me is crossing a milestone and I enjoyed every bit. Might do more in time to come.
My Ernest prayer is that, as we sing this song, as we pray it, things will get better in #Nigeria.
It is an #original piece and I hope you love it just as I do.
Sandra had earlier this year released a 5 track EP titled “Stay” available across digital stores
