Independent artist Shimon Atunde is excited to release his first single of 2023 “Gbése”.
According to the gospel artiste ”
“Gbése” is a reflection on how far God has brought me. It starts with a contemplation on contentment as I choose to focus on God’s favour and love over material wealth.
It’s a song about gratitude for all He has done: saving my soul, blessing the work of my hands, loving me with action and not just words. It’s essentially a love song to Abba with dancing in my feet as “Gbése” in Yoruba literally means “Take your leg up”.
My prayer is that anyone who listens reflects on God’s goodness, remembers his blessings, and decides to praise Him for them all. “

“Take Over”, Shimon’s previous release ft MikeSolo was nominated for Song of the Year in the Afrobeat Category at the AStepFwd awards 2022.
“Need You”, Shimon’s previous release has received constant airplay on UCB Radio since March 2021.
Biography
Shimon is a Lagos born, UK based gospel artist who creates Spirit filled afrobeat music that talks about his experiences in the light of God’s grace and love. Shimon is not only inspired by these experiences but by what is going on around him.
His Instagram and YouTube are littered with many covers of old school songs which Shimon has remixed to reflect the times we are in as well as his journey with Christ Jesus. Shimon is a PhD student at the University of Leicester, plays keyboard and is a fan of retro media such as cassettes and vinyl.
