‘WAY BACK’ is this bass filled hip-hop song was inspired by the parable of the Good Shepherd and the Lost Sheep in Mark 15:1-7.
The song majors on the spiritual walk of Tebz Smith and how he fell back several times after he gave his life to Christ, but somehow, the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, came back for him, brought him back, and restored everything that was lost.
In this song, he makes references to how he knew he was saved but the growth foundation he had was not so solid to help pull down strong holds and put out the fire of the little foxes, not to talk of tossing them off totally.
He addresses the place and need of discipleship, which is known to be God’s perfect way of molding his Children into the image of His son, Jesus Christ. This is why every young and new convert need to be yoked on with Jesus through discipleship, which usually comes through submission to a human authority God has placed over them. This would generally help the faith walk and growth of young believers. Not until Tebz found authorities over him in discipleship, a whole lot of things were not solved.
At the same time, the track signifies Tebz Smith’s come back into doing music purposely after a time of hiatus as he also encourages others not to give up on the vision God has given unto them, but rather call on the Good Shepherd as He’s ever ready to put his children through, because He is our ever present help!

ABOUT TEBZ SMITH
After playing around with several covers in 2014, Tebz Smith,the Nigerian rapper, singer & songwriter officially came into the Christian Hip-Hop scene in 2015 with a debut single (Driven) that was downloaded by hundreds to thousands of people on Kingdomboiz, a humble start for a new artist. In order to increase local awareness, he and his team of friends organized two series of concerts in 2016, themed CRUXIAL, while he was a student at Elizade University Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, Nigeria.
The second edition of the concert featured artists like El’noel and Twin Sax. He would later release two singles (MWLC ft Samzy Sam & EVERYDAY) in December 2016. From this point onwards, Tebz took a back seat as he entered into a hiatus from making music and this was because he wanted to focus on doing other things that would help him make money, at least something that would be steady.
He focused so much on doing this that he just didn’t have time to create or record anything, though he would later feature on “This Life” by Akinyemi, in 2018 but that would be the last time for the year. On Feb 14, 2019, he released another single (Smile featuring Same OG) to celebrate and encourage young people, especially ladies going through hard times, to Smile and push further believing God is concerned about them.
He also released GRATEFUL to celebrate his parents in December of the same year. Right now, Tebz is taking back the lost days by starting again with his new single (WAY BACK) that would usher in other amazing projects. Oluwatobi ‘Tebz Smith’ Shola-Shittu hails from Ikere-Ekiti and he is currently signed to Sternstrong, his newly founded entertainment company.
