Two Women Make History As They Enlist To Join The Navy SEAL
It has been reported that a woman alongside a female midshipman have been enlisted as the first female candidates seeking to join the Navy Seal. (special Operations team)
This summer, the two women will train with other potential officers in hopes of becoming the first female Navy SEAL officers.
With these women making history, they will face a long road of training and tests.The outcome of these tests will then determine if they eventually make the cut.
Initially, women were not allowed to serve in combat roles, which included Special Operation forces. This rule changed in the month of January 2016.
According to Mark Walton, a spokesman for Naval Special Warfare Command, the candidates identities have been withheld for security reasons.
The candidates’ identities and training progress have been made confidential.
This is to protect their personal security and “career viability as future special operator,” Lt. Cmdr.
