Members of St Editha’s Church in Tamworth discovered that their Church covered in graffiti with the message “God has failed” written over the walls and doors of the building.
With all the attacks and Calamities happening in Manchester and London and the horrific Grenfell fire incident, many seem to be questioning where God is and why all these things are happening.
According to the Staffordshire police,at about 1am, an 18 year old and 19 year old were stop-searched following the incident and were interviewed in connection with the graffiti.
The Church Warden Dawn Perry expressed her heart towards the incident:
“God has not failed, God gave us free will. It is man who failed.”
She stated that she has no idea why the incident happened but she suspects it is due to the recent attacks happening all around:
“The words “Deliver us to evil” was also pasted on the Church”
The staff members also expressed their pain and confusion being that a funeral service was to take place the day after:
“no one wants to see this graffiti as they walk through the church.”
St Editha is said to be one of the oldest Churches in the West Midlands and is listed as a Grade One building and it will cost the Church hundreds of pounds to clean.
Rev Alan Gordon, the vicar stated that it was a huge shame for the town and hopes that it will be sorted out soon:
“This is a huge shame for the town. We hope to get it sorted as soon as possible.”
