Lyrics
How many times must I yell I can’t breathe
My voice fading fast from the weight of my screams
What else must I do to prove I’m hurting
I fear for my life, yet the world fears my skin
Tell me how long is too long
Waiting four hundred years, the pain, the hurt the tears
You tell me, you see nothing wrong
Chorus
Enough is enough is enough is enough
Enough is enough is enough is enough
Blood cries from the ground
But nobody hears the sound
It’s enough, it’s enough.
Verse 2
How many more will have to die
Before we make a change, or find a compromise
We pray segregated, but wanna go to heaven
That seems to me like a twisted religion
Tell me when is my change gonna come
Waiting four hundred years the pain the hurt the tears
Yet you tell me you see nothing wrong
Chorus
Enough is enough is enough is enough
Enough is enough is enough is enough
Blood cries from the ground
Nobody hears the sound
It’s enough, it’s enough.
Enough is enough is enough is enough
Enough is enough is enough is enough
Blood cries from the ground
Nobody hears the sound
It’s enough
Bridge
You say you’d never leave nor forsake me
You said you’d never give more than I can bare
Your word is true your promises are yes and amen
But I’m tired, yes I’m tired I’m tired
Then you say
Chorus
I am enough, I’m enough, I’m enough
He says I am enough, I’m enough, I’m enough
I paid with my life the Lamb sacrificed
I’m enough, I’m enough(He says)
He Says I am enough,
He Says I am enough,
I paid with my life the Lamb sacrificed
I’m enough, I’m enough
I’m enough, I’m enough
I’m enough, I’m enough I’m…enough
BIOGRAPHY
Verese Vassell-Bowen is a singer, songwriter and recording artist based in the City of Guelph ON. She graced the Canadian gospel scene in 2016 with her debut album Forever Praise. This project blends a combination of Traditional, Contemporary, Neo Soul, and even Spoken Word into a soul stirring musical work. Her new single I Am Enough is soul stirring taking you on a journey from pain to praise.
Growing up in Jamaica,Verese began her musical career in church and later toured with some of the island’s profound talents including the likes of Reggae legend Beres Hammond. These experiences allow her to seamlessly interweave gospel, reggae, spoken word genres into her work. She was also a member of Jamaica’s award winning performing arts groups, Little People and Teen Players Club, Ashe Ensemble. The involvement in these organizations paved the way and helped in her personal development in vocal training. These skills were also explored in both her local church Kingdom Life Fellowship (non-denominational) and the Guelph Little theatre in Guelph, ON. Verese worked as a backing vocalist for some of Jamaica’s best reggae and gospel award winning artistes, Beres Hammond, Ernie Smith, Shirley Willis (former Grace Thrillers) as well as David Kirton and Bigger Irie (Barbados).
Verese has gracefully shared the stage with Juno ward-winning artists Toronto Mass Choir, Sharon Riley, Carlos Morgan as well as Denjifya Skene, Bisola Omogejesu, Chevelle Franklyn Dean Bridgewater, Carrie Wilson-Guse, Sammy Duke, Rufus John, Michael Austin Harris and Trevor Dick, to name a few of southern Ontario finest musicians and singers. Verese also served as executive producer and visionaire for the annual Joy In the City A Christmas Gospel Celebration and Women in Worship (May 2018).
